El Final

Where do I even begin. Well, to start, let's just say that I learned a lot more than just the culture and history of Barcelona. I learned more about myself and the way small groups interact. I forged strong friendships and made a few enemies along the way. I learned more about the city and the way different people, cultures and populations interact. The amount of history and art that was present in all aspects of the city was astounding. The amount of kindness and affection that I was showed by two strangers that welcomed me into their home was incredible. And the best part was I found someone that I can truly call my best friend.

There were ups and downs. Sunny days and blue days. But this trip opened my mind to a whole new side of me that I didn't even know existed. I went into this program expecting to learn more about Europe and walking away with a better appreciation of what it means to be European (and more specifically what it means to be Spanish). But I found myself in almost constant reflection looking back at my life in the States. I walked away with a deeper appreciation for all that I have and have achieved in my life. There's something special about experiencing different lifestyles that makes you notice all the wonderful aspects about your own life. It changed many hard-fast ideas and points of view that were well-established before I left the States and I'm eternally grateful for the experience that I was able to enjoy, the people that I met and the friendships that I forged while abroad. I'll never forget the sights, feelings and thoughts that I had abroad. Nothing like a little Mediterranean living to turn your world upside down, and I'm grateful for it :)
